Operation BBQ Relief Has Provided Over 10.5M Meals to Those in Need After Disasters

11 years ago, a group of BBQ pitmasters helped to feed those in need after tornadoes hit Joplin, Missouri—and now, they've started a movement with Operation BBQ Relief, feeding millions.

"What started as three guys going to Joplin to help a community down there has grown into an organization with over 10,000 volunteers nationwide and provided over 10.5 million meals, been in over 30 different states—gone to the Bahamas—and we had no idea what it would turn into," explains Stan Hays, one of the founders of Operation BBQ Relief.

But, the food that Stan and his team at Operation BBQ Relief provide does much more than feed the community.

"After a disaster strikes, food is a necessity, but comfort food like barbecue, does much more than nourishes the body, It also reminds them of the good times they did have and that there are going to be good times in the future. It gives them hope that they are going to be able to do that," he says.

To help Operation BBQ Relief continue to do great work, our friends at ConAgra Brands Foundation are giving them $10,000!
