Rebuilding the Stadium

In the wake of the devastation, the students at [Enterprise High School](/show/view/163/) came to the realize that one of their biggest traditions, holding graduation on the school's football field, would not be possible. "It's what you dream of ever since you start high school," says senior football player Rylee. "Especially when it's the field you play on." Football mom Lisa, explains that the severe damange to the field was a huge disappointment for many students because much of life in Enterprise centers on cheering on the Wild Cats as the hot lights of the stadium shine bright. "It's such an important part of the town," she says. "My son came to me and said, 'Mom, we need something to look forward to, and I know I won't have a school to graduate from, but where are we going to play?'" Philanthropists Mindy and Glenn Stearns know how important football is to the town. "Glenn and I are both from small towns," says Mindy. "And we know that whatever happens, you cannot break a small town pride, and we were touched by that." After the Sterns' toured the devastation with Enterprise's principal, they knew what they wanted to do. "We decided to present the school with a check for one football field," says Glenn. "We wanted to show them they would not be beaten." His wife Mindy adds: "We wanted to see Friday night lights shine again for this town."
