When Darryl McDaniels – famously known as DMC from the iconic hip-hop group Run-DMC – found out he was adopted at the age of 35, the “shocking, dramatic revelation” made him “feel all alone.”
“It destroyed me because it hit me with all of these whys,” he said about the questions he had for his birth parents.
But after meeting fellow adoptee Sheila Jaffe through a mutual friend, the two bonded over their shared experiences and created The Felix Organization – named after a fictional dog who gets adopted by a family of cats – a charity that provides community and teaches life skills to foster kids in need.
“It doesn’t matter who you are, it matters who’s around you,” Darryl said.
After sharing their story, Rach surprised Darryl and Sheila by announcing Flintstones Vitamins has donated $7,500 to their cause.
On May 21st, please join The Felix Organization for its 3rd annual "Walk This Way" fundraiser in NYC. For more information about the walkathon and The Felix Organization, or to donate, please visit www.thefelixorganization.org.
