Has the thought of scuffing up your white sneakers prevented you from wearing them out running? Do you dread putting shoes in the washing machine because of the awful banging? Well there's no need to stress any longer! Personal trainer/Instagram superstar Kayla Itsines says she's often asked how she keeps her white sneakers so clean, so she's sharing her tips for how to wash sneakers in a washing machine to keep them looking brand-new.

How To Wash Sneakers in a Washing Machine 

Kayla cleans her shoes in the washing machine on cold with one scoop of laundry detergent. "Make sure it's a cold wash," she stresses, "because you don't want to melt your shoes."

The personal trainer says there's no need to add any kind of stain remover, bleach or fabric softener — just laundry detergent will do. If your shoes smell, you can add a capful of distilled white vinegar as well, she continues.

Stop Shoes From Banging in the Washing Machine

"If you don't want your shoes banging around in your washing machine, you put a white towel in with your shoes," Kayla says. Just make sure it's an old towel that you don't mind throwing in with your sneakers. What a great trick!
