Rach's husband John is our show's (and Rach's) resident bartender, so he was more than happy to field a viewer question about setting up a beginner bar at home.
Question: What are the best "spirits" and necessary tools for a beginner bar setup?
- Ellen E. on Facebook
THE BEST SPIRITS FOR A BEGINNER BAR SETUP
"The best spirits are whatever you like to drink," John prefaces—but here's what he'd suggest.
- Vodka
- Gin
- Whiskey (rye, bourbon or scotch—whatever you like)
- Fortified wine, like red and white vermouth ("Once you open them, keep them in the fridge," Rach says.)
THE BEST BAR TOOLS FOR A BEGINNER
- Cocktail shaker
- Strainer
- Bar spoon
- Double-sided jigger
- Juicer
Voila—now you're ready to mix up one of John's famous cocktails!
Always drink responsibly.
