For the perfect DIY holiday gift, all you need is this recipe for homemade cocoa mix from Ryan Scott + a mason jar!
Ingredients
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 1 cup nonfat milk powder
- 1 teaspoon fine salt
- Mini marshmallows
- Mini chocolate chips
Optional extra toppings:
- Cinnamon
- Cayenne pepper
- Butterscotch chips
- Peanut butter chips
- Chopped candy canes
Preparation
Whisk together all of the dry ingredients.
For individual servings, scoop 3 tablespoons of cocoa mix into 12- to 16-ounce mason jars. To each jar, add a tablespoon of mini chocolate chips and a few marshmallows, and close the lid.
To serve, fill jars with boiling water and stir.
For a bulk hot cocoa mix gift, fill the jars ⅔ of the way up, layering with mini chocolate chips to create a multi-layered effect. Fill the last ⅓ with marshmallows.
Decorate hot cocoa jars with a recipe tag, festive stickers and ribbon; tie a mini bottle of booze and a cocktail recipe tag for grownups.
