Dr. Whitney Bowe is a leading NYC dermatologist, author of The Beauty of Dirty Skin and a friend of Rach's — so whenever she stops by our show to dish on the latest skin care trends, we're obviously all ears!
This time around, not only did she enlighten us on new ways to care for and protect our skin, but she also shared four skin care products she's currently obsessing over.
"Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body, so it's vital to the health of your skin, your hair, your nails, your bones, your joints," Dr. Whitney says (full disclosure: she's a paid Physician Ambassador for Body Kitchen).
Collagen powder is so easy to use, the doc says, because you can just stir it into your coffee or tea, add it to a smoothie or oatmeal and even cook and bake with it.
"It's flavorless!" she adds.

"Most people don't realize marshmallows used to be made from a marshmallow plant that grew in the marshes of Europe and Asia," Dr. Whitney says. "The roots of that plant had this thick, gooey substance that was thought to have healing properties."
While today's marshmallows don't contain any part of those original plants, she continues, there are skin care products that contain those ingredients.
This Marshmallow Hand & Cuticle Scrub by Deborah Lippmann is one of the doc's current faves, and it contains marshmallow root extract — which is anti-inflammatory and has healing, soothing properties, she says.
"And it smells like marshmallows, so this is just really, really fun!" Dr. Whitney adds.
As we all know, it's much easier to prevent damage to your skin than to repair damage once it's been done. And, as Dr. Whitney points out, the number one cause of both skin cancer AND aging in the skin is UV rays from the sun.
That's where the doc's third obsession, My Skin Track UV, comes in.
"It was developed to help people make and stick to healthy skin care choices," she says. It's a battery-free UV sensor, she explains. "You wear this on your clothing, on your pocketbook, you can clip it onto your necklace… and all day long it actually tracks your exposure to UV rays."
The sensor pairs with an app on your phone that also pulls information about pollen, pollution, humidity and more, Dr, Whitney says.

Dr. Whitney loves to use cocoa butter as a moisturizer for her lips and hands — and she has her own DIY hack for making cocoa butter lip balm!
Because cocoa butter is solid at room temperature, she melts some down in the microwave until it's in liquid form. Then, she simply applies it to her lips!
"This is my favorite lip balm, because it's so nourishing, it's so hydrating and it's totally edible," she says.
