When 53-year-old supermodel Paulina Porizkova was asked to pose for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit for the 7th (!!) time back in December -- 33 years after appearing on the cover -- her gut reaction was to say absolutely not.

"They asked me right before Christmas," the model explains. "I do a really big Christmas. Christmas is really special to me."

A really big Christmas complete with lots and lots of cookies, she adds, clarifying her reason for hesitation.

"And also," she continues, "Being sexy and flirtatious on the beach just seemed like … that era has passed."

That mindset changed, though, when she heard more about the magazine's empowering 2018 campaign.

"[Sports Illustrated] told me the campaign was [about] nudity and words," Paulina recounts. "And I was like, '[Those are] two of my favorite things!'"

And thus, the supermodel’s 7th appearance in the magazine came to be!

"In our society, [nudity] is kind of like a great big stop sign," the former cover girl says. "It is shocking to see a naked woman."

"I wanted to use that shock to speak," she continues. "To say the words that I thought were important."

The one word she ultimately settled on?

"There's really just one word that stands for it all," Paulina tells Rach. "And that’s truth."
